About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our exceptional Internal Medicine team! Work alongside board-certified specialists and experienced professionals, utilizing advanced technology to make a real impact on pets’ lives. As an IM Veterinary Technician, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

Responsibilities

Set up constant rate infusions (CRI)
Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.)
Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures
Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway)
Clean and maintain equipment following procedure
Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations
Additional job duties as assigned

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
