CityVet is actively seeking Veterinary Technicians to join their team, and Veterinary Technician Assistants with a minimum of 1-year experience will also be considered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
  • At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
  • Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
  • Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
  • Lift 50 lbs to waist height
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication & listening skills
  • Self-motivated & team-oriented
  • Weekend availability
  • Self starter

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients.
  • Relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice.
  • Help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and, most importantly, the client.
  • Assist Veterinarians by prepping patients for surgery (administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, gathering lab specimens), monitoring patients post-op, and restraining animals during exams.
  • Obtain samples such as stool, blood, and other specimens for testing.
  • Test gathered samples and assist in interpreting the results.
  • Administer accurate dosages of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM to patients.
  • Obtain medical information from clients and provide proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care.
  • Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.
