We are looking for a seasoned technician with an advanced skillset, leadership experience, and experience overseeing ICU patients, administering treatments, and who can be the technician for advanced ER abdominal surgeries such as GDV. What sets us apart: Tiered Veterinary Technician Levels: We offer a structured career progression with three technician levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, each with Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced subcategories. Each level and section comes with specific wage brackets to ensure transparency in expectations and compensation. Level 1 - Novice, Intermediate, Advanced: Entry-level technician with growth potential, wage range: $24.00 - $26.00/hour Level 2 - Novice, Intermediate, Advanced: Solid experienced, more advanced skills with a focus on leadership and mentoring, wage range: $27.00 - $29.00/hour Level 3 - Novice, Intermediate, Advanced: Expert-level technician specializing in emergency, specialty, or advanced care, wage range: $30.00 - $32.00/hour Licensed CVTs in the state of New Jersey wages will be 25% higher Personalized Mentorship: Each technician is paired with a mentor to ensure timely growth. Shift Differential for hours worked between 12:00am-7:00am About Us: At Newton Veterinary Hospital, we are a full-service small animal emergency and general practice hospital. Since 2001, we’ve been providing the highest level of care for our patients. Our facility includes diagnostic equipment such as in-house laboratory services, digital radiography, dental radiography, LigaSure, and ultrasound. We offer a 24/7 emergency referral center in addition to general practice services, giving you the flexibility to choose the schedule that best fits your life—whether you're interested in surgery, dentistry, emergency care, or general practice. A Day in the Life: Collaborate with a team of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care. Assist in patient exams, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready. Administer medications, vaccinations, lab tests, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures. Provide compassionate nursing care, including wound management, IV catheterization, and fluid therapy. Operate diagnostic equipment, such as radiography and ultrasound. Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, patient status, and concerns. Maintain detailed patient records and medical histories.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals compassionately, especially those exhibiting fear or stress.
  • Proficiency in multitasking and working well under pressure.
  • Physical capability to lift and restrain animals of varying sizes.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a valid license in New Jersey (but not required based on experience).
  • Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary emergency, critical care, or specialty hospital is a plus.
