About The Position

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our overnight ICU team. This position includes supporting the ICU as well as serving as a floor CVT for the ER for approximately half of the shift. Schedule: Tuesdays, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM. Requirements

Experienced Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities

Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
Identify patients that are in need of critical care and/or at risk for arrest
Initiate lifesaving efforts on patients in cardiopulmonary arrest
Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels and perform in-house lab work
Perform nursing care with post-operative orthopedic and recumbent patients
Use critical thinking skills to identify changes in patient statuses
Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
