About The Position
The Vet Technician plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals in a clinical setting. This position involves performing a variety of technical tasks such as collecting samples, administering medications, and assisting during surgeries to ensure the well-being and recovery of animal patients. The Vet Technician also educates pet owners on proper animal care, treatment plans, and preventive health measures, fostering a compassionate and informative environment. Attention to detail and strong observational skills are essential to monitor animal health and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies. Requirements
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of experience required
- Ability to lift animals and equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods
- Team player with exceptional client service and communication skills, attention to detail with a positive and compassionate attitude
- Compassionate and calm under pressure, especially in emergency situations
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing equipment and restraining animals safely.
- Collect and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and tissue for diagnostic testing.
- Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments under the supervision of a veterinarian.
- Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals before, during, and after treatment to detect any abnormalities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient histories to ensure continuity of care.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments, treatment areas, and animal housing to uphold hygiene standards.
- Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding patient care and progress
- Care for hospitalized patients.
- Assist with urgent care appointments.
- Assist with Technician appointments.
- Ability to effectively communicate and educate clients.
