We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant with experience in urgent or emergency care. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, clinical knowledge, and a passion for providing outstanding patient care.
Requirements
- Current and valid California RVT license OR 5+ years of veterinary nursing experience
- Proficiency in animal handling, restraint, and nursing care
- Solid knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
- Experience with diagnostic equipment, including radiology and lab equipment
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
- Must maintain or obtain California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire (waived for RVTs)
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in urgent care or emergency veterinary settings is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Perform triage and administer immediate care to incoming patients
- Collect and record patient history, vital signs, and presenting symptoms
- Assist veterinarians during medical procedures and treatments
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Conduct laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology
- Monitor patients under sedation or recovering from procedures
- Educate clients on home care and medication administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Perform accurate mathematical calculations for medications, CRIs, invoices, and estimates
- Communicate with professionalism, empathy, and discretion in all interactions
