About The Position

This position performs technical responsibilities in support of the float team at the UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) Hospital. Make a real difference in patients' and their owners' lives! There are two vacancies on this recruitment. The schedule for each vacancy is listed below: Vacancy 1 : 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. On-call and holiday hours required based on hospital needs. Vacancy 2: Flexible, decided at least two-weeks in advance. On-call and holiday hours required based on hospital needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to life a minimum of 50 pounds independently
  • Physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks
  • High School Diploma Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a veterinary clinic
  • Experience in surgery
  • Associates Degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, completes, and documents basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity (20%)
  • Monitors animal health status and records, notifies veterinarian when status changes, and ensures care plans are completed and recorded in the medical record (10%)
  • Tracks supply inventory levels and places replenishment orders (10%)
  • Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing (20%)
  • Assists with the execution of more complex animal care procedures and affiliated activities (10%)
  • Completes routine laboratory tests and collects specimen according to established medical orders and care plans (10%)
  • Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities (10%)
  • Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions (10%)
