What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant or Technician, you’ll play a critical role in day-to-day medical operations, including:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ year of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting preferred
  • Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians encouraged to apply
  • Working knowledge of veterinary procedures, terminology, and animal handling
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and adapt to a busy caseload

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology or CVT certification preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Patient Care Assist veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Safely restrain and handle patients of varying temperaments
  • Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients
  • Diagnostics & Laboratory Support Collect and process samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology)
  • Run in-house diagnostics (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecals)
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging (digital radiographs, ultrasound support)
  • Surgery & Anesthesia Prepare patients and surgical suites
  • Assist with induction, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery
  • Maintain sterile technique and instrument care
  • Client Communication Educate clients on preventive care, treatment plans, and aftercare
  • Provide compassionate, professional updates and discharge instructions
  • Hospital Operations Maintain accurate medical records
  • Support inventory, equipment care, and hospital cleanliness
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff
