What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant or Technician, you’ll play a critical role in day-to-day medical operations, including:
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting preferred
- Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians encouraged to apply
- Working knowledge of veterinary procedures, terminology, and animal handling
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and adapt to a busy caseload
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology or CVT certification preferred (not required)
Responsibilities
- Clinical & Patient Care Assist veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, and treatments
- Safely restrain and handle patients of varying temperaments
- Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients
- Diagnostics & Laboratory Support Collect and process samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology)
- Run in-house diagnostics (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecals)
- Assist with diagnostic imaging (digital radiographs, ultrasound support)
- Surgery & Anesthesia Prepare patients and surgical suites
- Assist with induction, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery
- Maintain sterile technique and instrument care
- Client Communication Educate clients on preventive care, treatment plans, and aftercare
- Provide compassionate, professional updates and discharge instructions
- Hospital Operations Maintain accurate medical records
- Support inventory, equipment care, and hospital cleanliness
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff
