The Veterinary Technician is an essential member of the hospital team and is a very rewarding position for someone looking to grow in a profession that will allow them to serve the animal community.

  • Obtaining baseline medical information
  • Performing routine procedures
  • Assisting with surgery
  • Maintaining a professional and calm demeanor with all clients
  • Greeting the client and patient and ensuring an orderly transition from the reception area to the exam room
  • Acting as an intermediary between the doctor and the client
  • Clearly and accurately explaining all services, procedures, and treatments
  • Updating patient files accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Collecting appropriate blood samples for various diagnostic tests
  • Completing dental scaling and polishing
  • Preparing patients for surgery
  • Monitoring patients during anesthesia and recovery
  • Providing post-surgery updates to clients
  • High school degree
  • CVT or RVT certification
  • One year experience working as CVT/RVT preferred but not required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of routine procedures including baseline medical data, cursory examinations, and diagnostic testing
  • Skills in client service, patient restraint techniques, and basic computer skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced veterinary environment
  • Willingness to learn more advanced skill sets such as feeding tube placements and thoracocentesis
  • Experience with emergency veterinary care
