About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monroeville, PA is now hiring an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician! As an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for triaging cases as they arrive at the hospital, obtaining vital signs, and alerting the Veterinarian to any changes or issues. You will perform various medical procedures, including phlebotomy, placing intravenous catheters, and performing digital radiography. Additionally, you will be involved in monitoring anesthesia patients and providing mentorship to co-workers. Requirements

• Experience as a veterinary technician.
• Proficiency in performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
• Ability to perform digital radiography.
• Knowledge of medical math and medication administration.
• Experience in monitoring anesthesia patients.

Nice To Haves

• VTS credentialing.
• Previous experience in an urgent care or emergency veterinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs.
• Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Sedate/induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
