About The Position

Credentialed Veterinary Technician – Surgery Department VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center San Diego, CA – Mission Valley VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center, located in the heart of San Diego’s Mission Valley, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team and be part of the opening of our state-of-the-art, 26,000 sq. ft. hospital at: 📍 7675 Mission Valley Rd., San Diego, CA 92108 Compensation & Schedule $27.50 – $35.00 per hour (negotiable based on education, experience, and credentials) Shift Differentials: $2.50 – $5.50 per hour depending on shift Schedules: Day to evening shifts available Alternative Work Weeks: 4x10-hour shifts available We are a fast-paced, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice in beautiful San Diego California. We are currently looking to add to our team and are seeking an experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to add to our Surgery Department, who believes in high quality veterinary medicine with the experience and know-how to make it happen. Requirements

  • 1–2 years of proven experience in a veterinary hospital (Surgery specialty experience strongly preferred)
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Compassion for pets and people, with awareness of patient stress signals
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely around potential hazards (allergens, zoonotic diseases, noises, odors, animal bites/scratches, waste, etc.)
