About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Minimum or f two years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed. A typical schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts. As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will: Advance your technical skills with on-the-job training. Specialty experience is not required. One year of technician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Utilize your ability to place IV catheters and urinary catheters.
  • Performs physical exam.
  • Understands normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up IV fluids and constant rate infusions.
  • Set up and oversee blood transfusions for critically ill patients.
  • Assist our highly qualified team, including board-certified surgeons, in performing a wide range of highly advanced surgical care. Some examples include scrubbing into surgeries such as TPLO, FHO, total hip, fracture repairs, splenectomy, lung lobectomy, GDV, and C-section.
  • Monitor up to and including ASA status I - V.
  • Learn how to independently run CT scans.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.
  • Perform local blocks, such as epidural.
  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines.
