About The Position

Premier Veterinary Group is looking for a Per Diem Veterinary Technician to support our ER team in our BRAND NEW facility in Mundelein IL! Per Diem Employee – An employee who is available to work as needed for coverage above and beyond the full time staff members in times of need for optimal patient care. Availability requirements are established by hospital necessity and shifts may vary, including day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holidays. This position offers the opportunity for growth within our patient care and emergency/specialty services, with the flexibility of being able to choose which available shifts work with your schedule. The primary responsibility of the Veterinary Technician is to support and assistance to the veterinary medical staff. Provides exemplary patient and client service with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets. Responsibilities for this position would include but are not limited to basic record keeping, animal restraint and husbandry, administering oral medications, stocking of medical supplies, and maintaining safety and cleanliness of workspace.

Requirements

• 3-4 years experience as a veterinary assistant/technician in a progressive general practice and/or 2 years in a specialty practice.
• Ability to prioritize and adapt to a fast paced, fluid environment.
• Skilled in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in canine and feline patients that are stable or compromised.
• Possess a good overall knowledge of disease processes, medical math, stable anesthesia and pharmacology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commit to at least 2-3 shifts every month.
