About The Position

Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician – Peer Trainer to join our team. The Peer Trainer will provide support and encouragement while mentoring staff during day-to-day operations. This role supports all specialty departments but will primarily focus on the Emergency Service and Intensive Care Unit. This mentorship position emphasizes outpatient and inpatient care, sedation procedures, surgery, and anesthesia, while fostering a fear-free environment for our patients. Our Peer Trainers demonstrate a positive and encouraging outlook for the entire team. Our ideal candidate is welcoming and approachable, an excellent teacher, and demonstrates great communication skills while leading by example in this on-the-floor training position.

Requirements

  • Credentialed technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) required
  • 3–5 years of veterinary experience required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and lead by example
  • Actively pursue personal growth in leadership and mentorship

  • VTS mentee or credentialed VTS encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Training Director and Nursing Supervisors to implement the day-to-day aspects of training
  • Work directly on the floor with staff to ensure proficiency in all required skills
  • Provide input for 30-60-90-day reviews to supervisors
  • Provide hands-on and workshop-based training to staff and new hires, promoting a growth mindset and long-term skill mastery
  • Train from existing SOPs and provide input regarding any needed updates
  • Collaborate with Nursing Supervisors to facilitate working interviews and proctor new hire assessments
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet training needs across departments
  • Identify and coach staff to assist in training initiatives
  • Assist with training on new equipment or protocols to ensure compliance
  • Coach externs from partnering veterinary technician schools
  • Support the Training Director with ancillary projects such as lectures, wet labs, or symposiums
