As a Veterinary Technician or Assistant, you’ll play a critical part in patient care, surgical support, emergency response, and client education. You’ll be trusted to use your clinical skills, your calm under pressure, and your compassion to make each visit better for pets and their families.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years in a veterinary clinic or hospital, with strong skills in surgery, anesthesia, and emergency support
  • High school diploma required; degree or formal training in veterinary technology preferred
  • EMR proficiency, diagnostic equipment, sterile technique, surgical and anesthesia knowledge
  • Empathy, clear communication, adaptability, and client education experience
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and handle high-stress cases with composure

Nice To Haves

  • RVT, LVT, CVT, or eligible; CPR certification strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor vitals before, during, and after surgery or anesthesia
  • Administer IV fluids, medications (injectables and orals), and oxygen therapy
  • Support critical cases with CPR and BLS as needed
  • Prep patients, induce and monitor anesthesia, and maintain sterile surgical fields
  • Assist with surgical instrument setup, cleaning, and sterilization
  • Maintain anesthesia and monitoring equipment
  • Perform digital radiographs, fecal exams, urinalysis, cytology, and blood work
  • Operate diagnostic tools (ECG, ultrasound, etc.) and record accurate results
  • Explain diagnostic findings, home care instructions, and treatment plans
  • Educate clients on preventive care including nutrition, vaccines, and parasite control
  • Assist with triage and stabilization of emergency cases
  • Administer emergency medications and fluids under DVM supervision
  • Perform CPR and assist with life-saving procedures
  • Prep patients for dental cleanings, x-rays, and exams
  • Safely restrain pets during procedures
  • Assist with intake, discharge, and patient documentation
