Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) or Veterinary Assistant with 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
  • Strong understanding of animal health, anatomy, physiology, and clinical practices.
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation.
  • Excellent communication and client education skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and physical stamina.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or licensing as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) is preferred but not required for Veterinary Assistants.
  • Experience in a full-service veterinary hospital is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as blood draws, urinalysis, and radiographs.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgeries and medical treatments.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and ensuring a sterile environment.
  • Provide medications as prescribed and assist with treatments like fluid therapy and wound care.
  • Assist in caring for critically ill patients and support resuscitation efforts when necessary.
  • Communicate with pet owners regarding their pets' conditions and treatment plans.
  • Educate pet owners on preventative care and health management.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assist with inventory management of medical supplies and medications.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other staff to deliver optimal patient care.
