About The Position

BluePearl in Pittsburgh (North Hills), PA is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our busy Neurology department. Check out why you should work for us HERE! We have many specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. Applicants should have a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and ambition to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
Set up for MRI and CT procedures
Set up constant rate infusions (CRI)
Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc)
Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc...
Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
Perform call backs and refill medications
Engage in client education, gather histories and communicate with clinician
Perform physical exam; accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort
Understand normal vital parameters
Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
Operate intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors
Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics

$500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
