About The Position

A veterinary technician in medical oncology supports veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, including administering chemotherapy, preparing medications safely, and monitoring patients during treatment. They also provide compassionate patient care, educate pet owners about treatment plans and side effects, and assist with diagnostic procedures and recordkeeping.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Registered Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities

  • Placement and maintenance of IV catheters
  • Calculate and administer both oral and injectable medications
  • Accuracy in calculating, delivering, and maintaining anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs
  • Safely position and take radiographs and obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing
  • Administer chemotherapy as directed, ensuring all protocols are followed and adhered to
  • Provide quality, compassionate care for hospitalized patients
  • Providing extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processes
  • Maintain accurate treatment sheets
