About The Position

As a CCU Tech Lead, you'll be an essential part of our veterinary team, providing vital support to our veterinarians in ensuring the utmost care and comfort for our clients' cherished pets. You will manage and lead a team of skilled veterinary professionals in our fast paced, dedicated team. You will be partnering with another clinical lead to support that robust 24/7 Team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • RVT preferred, but a Senior Veterinary Assistant will be considered too!
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in an ER/CCU setting required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during treatments and procedures.
  • Monitor critically ill or injured patients closely.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure around-the-clock care and treatment coordination.
  • Offer compassionate care and support to patients and their owners.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as bloodwork and imaging.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain medical equipment.
  • Communicate with pet owners regarding patient updates and treatment plans.
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and provide emergency care as needed.
  • Serve as the liaison between leadership and staff for your departments.
  • Maintain the department workflow and assess situations as they arise and help find solutions that best fit the needs of the department and hospital.
  • Monitor department staff, encourage productivity, positive work environment.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating training procedures to ensure that all current and newly hired staff members are trained and knowledgeable in all areas of the hospital.
  • Provide feedback for performance evaluations and performance counseling as needs arise individually.
  • Manage the department flow-day-to-day.
