About The Position

Veterinary Technician II - Trauma Hospital The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a dedicated full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Trauma Hospital team. This position will report to our state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus. A Day in the Life: As a veterinary technician, you will assist the operations of the Shelter Medical teams, championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence. You will play a critical role in providing urgent and intensive care to animals in emergency situations. You will assist veterinarians in the treatment of animals and work alongside the team to ensure high levels of patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma OR GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at a veterinary hospital or clinic.
  • Emergency or anesthetic experience required.
  • Must be able to assist veterinarians in all aspects of AHS' medical services including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy and the administration of prescribed medications.
  • Must know phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology and perform safe and humane animal handling
  • Must be proficient in anesthesiology, vaccine administration, implanting microchips, prep, fluid therapy, laboratory procedures, injections, and medication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
  • Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software for use with animals in shelter.
