About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated full-time Veterinary Technician to join their Trauma Hospital team. This role is based at the state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus and offers day shift and swing shift schedules. The position is for a skilled veterinary medical professional passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. As a veterinary technician, you will assist the operations of the Shelter Medical teams, championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence. You will assist veterinarians in the treatment of animals and independently evaluate animals to determine adoptability. You will work alongside the team to ensure high levels of patient care and will be a relationship builder who collaborates with veterinarians, veterinarian technicians, and department leaders to solve problems and implement positive changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma OR GED
  • Completion of a veterinary technician program OR 2 years of experience at a veterinary hospital or clinic
  • Ability to assist veterinarians in all aspects of AHS' medical services including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy and the administration of prescribed medications
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology
  • Ability to perform safe and humane animal handling
  • Proficiency in anesthesiology, vaccine administration, implanting microchips, prep, fluid therapy, laboratory procedures, injections, and medication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer
  • Able to learn other software programs as necessary
  • Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software for use with animals in shelter
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs
