About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) Sorrento Valley is looking for full-time Veterinary Technicians to join our Critical Care team. About Veterinary Specialty Hospital: As the only VECCS Level I Trauma Center in San Diego County, our ECC department is committed to caring for the veterinary trauma patient and is equipped to expertly manage all types of traumatic injuries in our state-of-the-art facility. Our ECC nursing staff are an integral part of providing this level of care. Experience working in an environment that encourages collaboration and growth alongside our 4 board certified criticalists, ECC residents, and experienced ER clinicians. These resources allow for an environment of continual learning and advanced skill development for all the members of our ECC team at VSH. About the Job: As a Vet Tech in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) you will be responsible for: Collecting samples, placing IV catheters, prepare IV fluids and additives, obtain arterial blood gas samples Calculating and administering medication, fluid additives, CRI's Obtaining and reporting vitals, monitoring telemetry, monitor oxygen dependent patients Placement and maintenance of nasogastric tube, nasal cannula, central venous catheters Must be able to prioritize patient hourly treatments and delegate tasks. Triage critical patients, recognize changes in patient status and report to doctor, educate/update owners on patient status, discharge patients from the hospital.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 year of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting required.
  • 2 years ECC experience required.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
