About The Position

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough, NJ is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding emergency team on the overnight shift! Red Bank Veterinary Hospital Hillsborough is seeking a full time experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine department. Our team is comprised of dedicated veterinary professionals that put an emphasis on making the appointment a positive patient experience. We are seeking a compassionate, experienced veterinary technician to complete our work family. A credentialed technician is strongly preferred. Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Excellent veterinary nursing and technician skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery.
  • Proficient IV catheter placement, and accurate drug calculations & calculations.
  • Quality nursing and husbandry care of patients.
  • Strong working knowledge of veterinary procedures and pharmacology.
  • Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs.
  • Perform and/or participate in all other diagnostics such as radiology, ultrasound, ECG, BP, and glucose monitoring.
  • Monitor anesthesia.
  • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well as providing client education.
  • Provide nursing care for in-hospital patients including all veterinarians requested treatments, diagnostics, and medication. Accurately and completely record all treatments.
  • Conduct pre-admission exams and discharge hospitalized patients.
  • Updates clients appropriately.
  • Maintain legally defensible medical records in cooperation with veterinarians.
  • Actively engage in nursing rounds.
