About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency department in Olympia, WA. This position is scheduled for Saturday 8am to 8pm. LVT Pay: $24 - $47 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example: Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential, Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential, Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will: Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers. Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency and specialty care environment.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medical procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
