About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN is looking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! The position is for a Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our ER/ICU department. This is a full-time role with a day shift schedule, offering 3-day work week options. The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $37.00/hour, depending on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool. The role includes working in a busy ICU department with flexibility in scheduling, including a bi-weekly rotating schedule that includes full weekend shifts and only 2 holidays per year.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in ALS and BLS (provided at no cost).
  • Experience with advanced veterinary equipment.
  • Previous mentoring or training experience.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  • Monitor critical patients using highly advanced equipment such as mechanical ventilators and Pleur-Evac systems.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
  • Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.
  • Mentor and train fellow team members and engage with clients with empathy and professionalism.
