The Veterinary Technician - Animal Health Technician/Supervising Animal Keeper position at the County of Bergen involves providing comprehensive care for sick and injured animals at the Bergen County Zoo. Under the guidance of the Zoo Curator and Veterinarian, the technician will be responsible for monitoring the health of the animal collection, administering medications, and performing routine health assessments. This role requires a strong understanding of animal care, veterinary technology, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The technician will also assist in surgeries, manage medical records, and supervise other animal care staff, ensuring that all animals receive the highest standard of care. The position is full-time and requires flexibility, including working weekends and holidays as needed. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field, along with a valid Veterinary Technician license in New Jersey. Experience in a zoo or with exotic animals is preferred, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
