About The Position

CARE | Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency is an independently, woman-owned 24-hour Emergency and Specialty Referral Hospital in Charlotte, NC that offers its employees a fun company culture, supportive work environment, excellent benefits, and opportunities for growth! Board-certified specialty services offered include internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, surgery, oncology, and ophthalmology. Our advanced diagnostic services include ultrasonography and echocardiography, electroencephalography, endoscopy, rapid-scan CT imaging, high field MRI, and cardio cath lab, in addition to many others. CARE is seeking a Sterile Processing Assistant with veterinary experience to join our team! A Sterile Processing Assistant performs decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of instrumentation and medical equipment for surgeries and procedures, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of Central Supply, Sterile Processing, or veterinary experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Comfortable using computers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining proper sterile technique
  • Proactive distribution of all necessary equipment and instrumentation for surgeries and procedures
  • Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination
  • Accurately handle and care for instruments, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, identification, and assembly
  • Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization
  • Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sterilization equipment
  • Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between the operating rooms
  • Restock surgical inventory
  • Other duties as assigned
