About The Position

The Veterinary Research/Health Technician I position at OHSU is responsible for providing clinical assessment, monitoring, and care for laboratory animals. This role supports veterinary team operations and research programs, ensuring the health and welfare of colony animals under the supervision of the Head of Clinical Medicine, Surgery and Training. The technician will work closely with clinical veterinarians and may assist with husbandry services as needed, while exemplifying strong communication and teamwork skills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of paid or voluntary care for animals.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective time-management skills, especially during competing demands.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 or MS Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with traditional laboratory or exotic animal species.
  • Knowledge of animal care for laboratory species.
  • Knowledge of basic animal health care.
  • AALAS certification at the ALAT level or ability to obtain certification within 6-12 months.

Responsibilities
