About The Position

The Veterinary Rehabilitation Assistant works between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday (usually four 10 hour days) and plays a vital role in providing competent and compassionate basic care by assisting the Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapists in appointments with their patients as needed to ensure high-quality patient and client care.

Requirements

  • One of the following qualifications required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing with individuals and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems within the guidelines of the company's policy and basic patient care principles.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have basic data entry and computer skills.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk as well as use hands to feel / handle patients and items.
  • In addition, the employee may spend 25% of the time sitting, climbing, or balancing; 50-60% of the time may be spent reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is required to lift between up to 50 pounds alone and up to 100 + pounds with the aid of other employees.
