About The Position

Crete Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, progressive mixed animal practice serving the Crete, Nebraska community for over 40 years. Our fast-paced hospital sees a 60% large animal and 40% small animal caseload and offers comprehensive services including preventive care, surgery, urgent care, dentistry, in-house diagnostics, digital radiology, ultrasonography, grooming, and boarding. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Practice Manager who enjoys a hands-on role, with approximately 50% of the position spent working in the hospital alongside the medical team. Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is ideal. This role works closely with doctors and staff to support daily operations, team leadership, and exceptional client service. We’re looking for: We are seeking a courteous, organized, and hands-on Veterinary Practice Manager to support daily operations and lead our team. This role is a 50/50 split between management responsibilities and functional, hands-on work, making it ideal for someone with prior Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience, preferably in a mixed animal practice.

Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience strongly preferred; mixed animal practice experience a plus
  • Certified or experienced Veterinary Practice Manager preferred, with a minimum of 1 year of management experience or 3+ years of veterinary experience
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and hospital operations
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassionate, calm, and team-oriented with strong client service and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with computers and practice management software
  • Self-motivated with a desire to continue learning and growing professionally
  • Flexible availability, with willingness to adjust hours based on hospital needs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily administrative and operational functions of the hospital
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and manage staff performance
  • Maintain inventory control, including ordering supplies, managing vendors, and monitoring controlled substances
  • Ensure payroll is accurate and submitted on time
  • Implement and enforce hospital policies, including OSHA and DEA compliance
  • Support doctors and staff while promoting a positive, team-focused culture
  • Maintain accurate patient records and working knowledge of veterinary terminology
  • Address client questions, concerns, and complaints with professionalism
  • Market the hospital within the local veterinary community and attend relevant event
