About The Position

Join Our Team as a Veterinary OR Surgical Technician! The AAHA-accredited Small Animal Hospital at the University of Florida is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated Operating Room Technician. As a vital member of our growing team, you will support various hospital services, with a special focus on surgery and anesthesia. Key Responsibilities: Assist with surgical procedures and perform routine nursing care, including surgical preparation, aseptic techniques, and patient handling. Ensure charges are inputted and records are complete. Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches. Assemble surgical supplies and prepare instrument tables. Assist anesthesia and other services by restraining patients, setting up equipment, or transporting patients. Exhibit excellent communication skills and be proactive in meeting the needs of patients and surgeons. Sterile Supply & Cleanliness: Keep Sterile Supply and adjacent areas clean and organized. Enter charges, check expiration dates, and maintain equipment. Clean, prepare, wrap, and sterilize surgical packs and equipment. Maintain uncompromising levels of cleanliness throughout the service. Qualifications: Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique. Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique.
  • Positive attitude, critical thinking, and professionalism.
  • Enjoy learning new things and being proactive.
  • Tech I: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Tech II: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of appropriate experience or college coursework in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology
  • Credentialed veterinary technician
  • Certified as a Surgical technologists
