About The Position

American Animal Hospital is a long-standing general practice located in San Diego, California, with deep ties to the community. The hospital's goal is to provide compassionate and quality medicine while striving to make an impact and treat patients and clients like family. They are seeking a Medical Director to lead their passionate team. The clinic is a General Practice with an average daily patient volume of 16-20 pets and a support staff ratio of 2:1. The case mix includes wellness, sick pets, surgery, and dentistry, utilizing technology such as Digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house labs, and a dental machine. The team culture is described as collaborative and efficient. The role offers medical autonomy, allowing the director to practice exceptional medicine and surgery with the full support of the medical systems and a robust support team, including skilled technicians, dedicated client service representatives, and strong leadership.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an accredited university
Active licensure without restrictions in state of practice
Active DEA Registration for responsible practice location(s)
Any required state-controlled substance, pharmacy or other licenses and/or registrations as required
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian
Commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week
Strong Surgical Skill

Minimum of 1 year of experience leading a veterinary team and/or multi-unit experience
