Veterinary Laboratory Technician
About The Position
Upstate Veterinary Specialties (UVS) is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our newly established in-house veterinary clinical laboratory. This is a generalist role supporting advanced specialty and emergency care for small animal patients. In this position, you will perform a wide range of diagnostic testing, including chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, and microbiology, playing a critical role in timely, high-quality patient care. Our Referral Network Our hospital serves a large and loyal referral base across upstate and western New York, the Mid-Hudson Valley, western New England, and beyond. In 2024, we processed over 25,000 laboratory accessions mostly through external laboratories — a caseload we aim to bring in-house. Requirements
- ASCP-certified candidates: Minimum of one year of relevant laboratory experience preferred (not required)
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field
- Non-ASCP-certified candidates: Minimum of two years of experience in a physician clinic or comparable laboratory setting with relevant clinical testing experience
- NYS Licensure (CLT/MT/CLS) preferred but not required if the above criteria are met
- Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) with relevant laboratory experience are encouraged to apply
