About The Position

VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician for processing laboratory tests and maintenance on laboratory equipment to join our team at our busy, 24-hour emergency/referral/multi-specialty and general practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. Are you detail orientated, organized and able to muli-task in a fast-paced environment? If so, this is the position for you. The Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in supporting patient care by maintaining the hospital laboratory and ensuring accurate, timely diagnostic services. The Laboratory Technician processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource as needed. Requirements

  • Are you detail orientated, organized and able to muli-task in a fast-paced environment?

Responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis and testing
  • Process and label samples (blood, urine, fecal, tissue, etc.)
  • Responsible for performing moderate and high-complexity testing
  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment
  • Familiarity with diagnostic laboratory environment
  • Record all data and results
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment
  • Performs quality control and calibration procedures when indicated and instrument checks
  • Inventory control to assure adequate supplies; ordering of chemicals and supplies
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Docs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
