About The Position

Driftway Animal Hospital is a full service, privately owned, small animal hospital that provides quality care to the pets of Scituate and surrounding towns. We offer traditional medicine, vaccines, and preventatives as well as holistic options. We have digital radiology, perform soft tissue surgeries and dental procedures. Our team is dedicated and hard working. The common goal is to improve the lives of our patients and educate our clients to the best of our abilities. We are a close-knit group that has fun while we work! We are looking for a friendly, energetic and detail oriented Veterinary Technician to join our animal care team. Primary goals would be to assist veterinarians with routine exams and medical treatments.

Requirements

• General knowledge of vaccine protocols.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and place I.V catheters.
• Ability to operate various in-house laboratory equipment.
• Ability to safely use digital radiology system.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with routine exams and medical treatments.
• Provide animal care by determining animal requirements.
• Perform safe, gentle handling and restraint.
• Feed and care for animals.
• Maintain supplies and equipment.
• Maintain records.
• Conduct assessments and obtain detailed intakes.
• Complete laboratory requisitions, tests, and diagnostic imaging.
• Take vital signs and collect samples.
• Administer medications and vaccines.
• Perform radiographs safely.
• Place I.V. catheters.
• Assist with euthanasia.
• Support animal examinations by assembling required supplies and instruments.
• Explain animal status to owners.
• Perform anal gland expressions and nail trims.
• Obtain and verify medications.
• Clean animal cages and equipment.
• Effectively communicate and educate clients.
• Perform administrative tasks as needed.
