Veterinary Assistants I and II at Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of pets and providing excellent customer service. The position involves a variety of responsibilities, including pet care, assisting veterinary doctors and technicians during surgical and anesthetic procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment. Veterinary Assistants I focus on cleaning surgical instruments, cages, and performing administrative duties, while Veterinary Assistants II are more customer-facing, assisting with administrative functions and helping with vaccination events at all TCAP locations. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a warm and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. This includes checking in patients, managing the line, and providing information to pet owners. You will also review patient paperwork for completeness, prepare and administer vaccinations, and assist in administering tests, medications, and treatments as directed by the veterinary team. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining clinic housekeeping, documenting client visits, monitoring inventory levels, and entering service invoices into the system daily. The position offers opportunities for advancement within the organization, as TCAP promotes from within. You will be part of a team that values collaboration, accountability, and client service, and you will have the chance to make a significant impact in the community by providing affordable veterinary care.
