About The Position

We are seeking compassionate Veterinary Assistants to join our medical care team! This is an entry-level position where on the job training will be provided. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, is excited and motivated to learn, and have a passion for providing high-quality care to animals! This is a full-time position, temporary/seasonal help need not apply.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to change between frequent sitting, standing, bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and walking
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some weekends
  • Strong reading comprehension and math skills at a high school graduate level or above
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities (with guidance)
  • Professional communication skills, both with peers and clients
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations with poise
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques would be ideal, but not required
  • Collaborative team-player to ensure optimal patient care
  • The ideal candidate will be accountable, responsible, motivated, proactive, trustworthy, and dependable

Responsibilities

  • General housekeeping, laundry, sanitizing various medical areas, sterilizing equipment and surfaces, stocking of supplies
  • Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications, venipuncture, effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance, and other routine supportive functions
