About The Position

The Veterinary Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the veterinary team by providing care and assistance to animals and their owners. This entry-level position involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring excellent patient care and client service in a veterinary setting.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older
• Ability to multitask and work as a team player
• Genuine enjoyment of working with animals, even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting and restraining animals
• Should be able to lift 40 lbs on own
• Experience in a teamwork approach and ability to work well with all levels of hospital team members

• 1+ years of experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in caring for animals after surgery
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
• Aid with routine diagnostic tests such as taking radiographs and running bloodwork
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
• Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, exam, and treatment areas of the hospital
• Administer medications under the supervision of a Veterinarian or Vet Tech
• Feed and bathe animals
• Answer phones and provide customer service
• Help clients with their pets
