About The Position

VCA Animal Hospital of Santa Cruz is searching for a Veterinary Assistant passionate about patient care and dedicated to providing excellent client service. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care — with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining medical records, obtaining patient vital signs, and scribing patient histories.
• Performing outpatient wellness services such as vaccines, deworming treatments, parasite preventions, and light grooming.
• Preparing the surgical suite and surgical patients.
• Filling prescriptions and recommending appropriate hospital programs for wellness plans and prescription delivery services.
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded, grooming, and hospitalized pets.
