About The Position

Sunset Whitney Veterinary Hospital, located in Rocklin, CA, is seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our dedicated team. We have multiple positions available, including an Anesthesia Assistant, a Floor Assistant/Floater, and a Roomer. The Anesthesia Assistant role requires strong anesthesia monitoring skills, while the Floor Assistant/Floater will focus on client education, wellness, phlebotomy, and in-patient care. The Roomer position emphasizes strong client service skills and knowledge in client education and wellness. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and we pride ourselves on being a dynamic team of passionate professionals in a family-owned and operated environment. We value the contributions of our team members and are committed to providing excellent service to our patients and clientele. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures. This includes employing proper restraint techniques, understanding canine and feline behavior, and effectively communicating with clients. You will also be involved in preventive wellness, performing blood draws, running in-house lab work, administering medications, and filling prescriptions. Additionally, you will be expected to take diagnostic radiographs and work independently on assigned tasks while also accepting direction when necessary. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to assist other departments as needed and adhere to OSHA regulations. The role may also require strong general anesthesia experience for specific positions. The physical demands of this job include frequent bending, standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with occasional handling of larger dogs weighing over 150 pounds. Assistance will be provided when working with larger animals. The work environment may expose you to hazards associated with aggressive patients, infected animals, unpleasant odors, and potential bites or scratches. It is crucial to follow federal and state animal health laws and regulations, including OSHA and DEA guidelines.
