About The Position

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is seeking compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the intake process, providing essential veterinary care to animals entering our shelter. Your responsibilities will include conducting health assessments, administering vaccinations, and collaborating with the veterinary team to ensure the well-being of our animals.

Requirements

• Experience in a veterinary setting, preferably in a shelter or rescue environment
• Strong knowledge of animal health and behavior
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Compassionate and patient demeanor
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have experience/ be proficient with blood draws and have recent experience as a vet tech.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs +

Responsibilities

• Assist with animal restraint and administration of treatments as needed.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe examination and surgical area.
• Clean and prepare surgical packs daily.
• Clean dishes, do laundry and feed animals daily.
• Clean and disinfect cages in surgery area and spot clean throughout the day.
• Keep surveillance of post-surgical patients and report any concerns to a surgery technician or the veterinarian.
• Assist in data entry duties daily.
• Unpack, distribute and maintain order of medical supplies for the department.
• Assist in transporting animals to shelter and clinic daily.
