Beacon Veterinary Specialists is seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic Internal Medicine team. In this role, you will work side-by-side with a board-certified Internist in a collaborative team environment to provide exceptional patient care and client service through diagnostics, treatments, and follow-up care. Who You Are: Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Small Animal Internal Medicine department required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Small Animal Internal Medicine department required.
  • Strong technical skills in sample/diagnostic collection, venipuncture and intravenous (IV) catheterization
  • Comfortable monitoring advanced anesthetic procedures
  • Experienced in positioning patients for diagnostic imaging including digital radiology and ultrasound
  • Compassionate towards people and animals
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively

Responsibilities

  • Organize and assist with all technical aspects of veterinary care and procedures for the day
  • Complete scheduled appointments including maintaining accurate medical record documentation and communication with supervising veterinarian
  • Support diagnostic ultrasound appointments by preparing patients, assisting with positioning, and ensuring accurate imaging
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide additional nursing care to hospitalized IM patients
  • Collect and process samples for diagnostic laboratory analysis
  • Educate clients on pre- and post-procedure care and medication administration
  • Support rounds during shift changes
  • Ensure all documentation and patient charges are accurate, complete, and follow hospital policy
  • Adhere to hospital and OSHA standards for restraining, handling and caring for pets
  • Maintain, clean and organize treatment areas, exam rooms and laboratory stations
  • Provide information to Clinical Services Supervisors, Client Services Manager, and Clinical Services Manager regarding client and department concerns
