About The Position

Cary Veterinary Hospital, a small animal general practice in Cary, NC, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative and compassionate team! We're a Fear Free-focused hospital that provides low-stress care for our patients and a supportive, drama-free environment for our team. Here, everyone helps one another. Our medical staff and CSRs work together seamlessly so the day flows smoothly and everyone gets out on time (and yes, you'll get your lunch break!). We're proud of the positive, upbeat culture we've built and are looking for someone who's just as committed to teamwork, communication, and patient care as we are. -- About the Role: The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in veterinary medicine and a solid understanding of: Animal restraint and safe handling Outpatient and inpatient care Running minor laboratory tests (fecals, UA, cytology prep, etc.) Assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams and treatments Preparing treatment areas and cleaning/sterilizing instruments Providing excellent client communication and patient care You'll also help with: Administering medications (oral and topical) Taking patient vitals and recording accurate medical notes Preparing patients for surgery Maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment Occasionally assisting with phones, scheduling, and client communication -- What We're Looking For: Minimum 1-2 years of veterinary assistant experience Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-player mindset Excellent communication skills and a positive, adaptable attitude Compassion for both pets and their people Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to our Fear Free culture

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint and safe handling
