About The Position

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position will be weekdays only, 4x10 hour shifts, split between both of our locations. Monday-Tuesday be at our Frederick location, Thursday-Friday at our Ellicott City location. Founded by Drs. Peter and Faith Lotsikas, Skylos Sports Medicine, is an orthopedic and rehabilitation specialty practice that provides a unique concierge level of care for patients and their guardians in Ellicott City and Frederick, Maryland. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will: Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds. Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response. Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Perform phlebotomy. Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications. Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor. Why BluePearl? Our passion is pets. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible. Responsibilities
