About The Position

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff. We are hiring Experienced Veterinary Assistants and Certified Veterinary Technicians who are looking for a wonderful place to grow and have fun! Who are we looking for right now? Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced Experienced Veterinary Assistants for our ER department; day and swing shifts available with one weekend day required.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience in an ER setting as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills!
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure
  • Confident in life saving procedures and CPR/BLS
  • Strong/confident phlebotomy and venipuncture skills; advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills are a bonus!
  • Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures, including management of unstable patients. (Additional anesthesia training to be provided).
  • Oregon Radiology Certification for Veterinary Professionals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ezyVet, SmartFlow, IDEXX laboratory equipment is preferred
  • advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills are a bonus!

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assessment of cases - including alerting DVM of patients in critical conditions
  • Perform diagnostic tests, sedate or anesthetized procedures, and outpatient treatments as directed by DVM
  • Oversee and provide treatments & support to day-hospitalizations
  • Provide support and education to pet owners
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Ability to positively collaborate with peers and team members in providing patient-centered care.
