About The Position

Oath Animal Hospital is hiring a part-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us. Salary: $18-$22 per hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. Schedule: This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week, with a scheduled shift on Monday and Wednesday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM. About Oath Animal Hospital Oath Animal Hospital, a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital, opened its doors in May 2023 in East Meadow. The hospital offers a range of services, including preventative care, dental care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and an in-house pharmacy for pets in the greater East Meadow and Long Island areas. The operation is led by Dr. Michael Funk, medical director, owner, and founder of Oath Veterinary Services, who brings over 15 years of veterinary experience to the clinic. Dr. Funk has been named Bethpage’s Best Veterinarian on Long Island for 10 years, and Oath Animal Hospital is honored to be recognized as Best Pet Hospital on Long Island in 2024, its inaugural year.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
  • Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
  • Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
  • Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
  • Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
  • Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
