About The Position

Providing full service veterinary hospital with veterinary supervised boarding, daycare, grooming & bathing 7 days a week! Our top-notch veterinary staff is available for the full care of your pet, offering your family personalized healthcare options that best suit the needs of your dog or cat. We have an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, operating room, ultrasound room, thermal imaging, digital x-ray room and dental suite with digital dental x-ray. We use state of the art equipment to provide comprehensive monitoring of vital signs during anesthetic procedures. For many specialty surgical procedures, it is also possible for board-certified surgeons to perform procedures here in our operating room, with the full support and involvement of our veterinarians. For surgery patients, we provide post-operative convalescent care, and this service is available no matter where the surgery was performed. We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
  • Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
  • Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient's condition to DVM
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
  • Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations
  • High quality client communication on patient updates and questions
