About The Position

The Veterinary Assistant/Technician role at Pet Urgent Care involves providing urgent animal care services in a supportive and low-stress environment. Requirements

• High School diploma or GED certificate.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
• Strong communication skills and good judgment.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and work respectfully in a team.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Basic computer and typing skills.
• 1 year of veterinary experience required.
• 1 year of veterinary assistant experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner.
• Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and note any changes in the patient's condition to the Veterinarian.
• Assist the Veterinarian with diagnostics and treatments.
• Obtain lab samples, prepare slides, and assist with ear cytology, fecal prep, and lab work collection.
• Clip/clean wounds, prepare patients for surgery, and assist in minor procedures.
• Proactively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests.
• Assist with treatment plan templates and estimates for clients.
• Check in and invoice out patients when needed.
• Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines and surgical packs.
• Communicate high-quality updates to clients regarding patient status.
