About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight ER Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going over estimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work, etc.), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication. As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. You will stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role. You will understand the classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitor therapeutic response. You will administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT, perform radiography and lab work, and perform physical exams. You will engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instructions. You will remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in veterinary assistance.
  • Experience in triaging emergency cases.
  • Ability to perform diagnostics such as radiographs and lab work.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in emergency veterinary care.
  • Certification as a veterinary technician or assistant.

Responsibilities
