About The Position

VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant to join their surgery team as a pack prep assistant. The ideal candidate is positive, energetic, eager to learn, and works well in a team. Responsibilities

  • Clean surgical instruments using surgical sterilization techniques
  • Prepare surgical packs and PPE (gloves, gowns, drapes and masks) for sterilization
  • Properly set up and run sterilization equipment - gas sterilizer and autoclave
  • Decontaminating and cleaning operating rooms, sterile supply room and equipment daily and after surgical procedures
  • Maintain proper stock of surgical supplies in pack area and surgical suites
  • Prepare instruments and operating room for surgery
  • Manage inventory and equipment ordering
  • Troubleshooting and removing faulty equipment from service to submit for repair or replacement
  • Maintaining appropriate quantities of surgical supplies and equipment
  • Decontaminating and cleaning operating rooms, sterile supply room, and equipment according to established procedures
  • Serving as a resource/reference to surgical team with regards to surgical equipment
